Humanitarian and Compassionate Program

Eligibility:

The applicant must be in Canada at the time of application.

Applicants must demonstrate compelling humanitarian and compassionate reasons for why they should be allowed to stay in Canada.

The circumstances can include, but are not limited to, severe hardship if forced to return to their home country, establishment and integration into Canadian society, and best interests of any children involved.

Grounds for Application:

Personal circumstances: These can include serious medical conditions, family ties in Canada, or risks to personal safety if returned to the home country.

Impact on the applicant's family: How their departure would affect their family members, especially children, who are Canadian citizens or permanent residents.

Establishment in Canada: Proof of how well the applicant has integrated into Canadian society, such as employment history, rent history, community involvement, and overall contribution to the community. Canada implemented a temporary public policy to assist families impacted by the Russian invasion of Ukraine in reuniting in Canada. 

This policy allows Ukrainian foreign nationals with a CUAET visa in Canada and their family members to apply for permanent residence.

Family Members' Location: Family members can be either in or outside Canada.

Family member can be: Spouse, parent, child, siblings
