Pathway for Ukrainian Citizens

Canada has introduced a new permanent residence (PR) pathway specifically for Ukrainian nationals who are in Canada under the Canada-Ukraine Authorization for Emergency Travel (CUAET) visa. This new program, launched on October 23, 2023, provides an opportunity for Ukrainians in Canada to obtain PR status and is aimed at helping them build a stable life in the country.

Key Details:

  • Eligibility:

    • Ukrainian citizens must be in Canada with temporary resident status.

    • They must have at least one family member who is a Canadian citizen or permanent resident. Eligible family members include spouses, common-law partners, parents, grandparents, siblings, children, or grandchildren.

    • Spouses or common-law partners of Ukrainian nationals, who are themselves unable to leave Ukraine, may also be eligible if they have a family member in Canada.

  • Application Period:

    • The pathway is open until October 22, 2024, giving eligible individuals one year to submit their applications.

  • Benefits:

    • The program is designed to be accessible, with no minimum income requirement for applicants. However, applicants will need to pay standard processing fees, including the right of permanent residence fee and biometrics fee.

This program is part of Canada’s ongoing commitment to support those affected by the conflict in Ukraine by offering a more permanent solution for those who have found refuge in Canada
