Eligibility Criteria:
Refugee or Displaced Status: You must be recognized as a refugee by the UNHCR, a foreign government, or through private sponsorship in Canada. Alternatively, you may qualify if you're in a situation that forces you to leave your home country, even if you don't have official refugee status.
Fit for Economic Immigration Programs: You must qualify for one of Canada’s economic immigration programs, such as:
- Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP)
- Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP)
- Canadian Experience Class (CEC)
- Provincial Nominee Program (PNP)This means having the necessary skills, work experience, education, and language ability required by these programs.
Skills and Job Readiness: You need to have skills that are in demand in Canada. This might involve having a job offer from a Canadian employer or relevant work experience in an occupation that Canada needs.
Language Ability: You must prove your ability to speak English or French, usually by taking language tests like IELTS (for English) or TEF (for French).
Financial Stability: You must show that you have enough money to support yourself and your family in Canada, unless you already have a job offer.
Health, Security, and Background Checks: Like most immigration programs, you’ll need to pass a medical exam and security checks, and have no criminal record.
Intention to Settle in Canada: You must plan to live in a province or territory other than Quebec, unless you're applying under a specific program in Quebec. The EMPP provides additional support to help refugees and displaced people meet these requirements and successfully immigrate to Canada.
